The Padma, Sanskrit for lotus floweris mentioned in Hindu mythology as a byname for the Goddess Lakshmi. The name Padma is given to the lower part of the course of the Ganges Ganga below the point of the off-take of the Bhagirathi River Indiaanother Ganges River distributary also known as the Hooghly River.
Padma had, most probably, flowed through a number of channels at different times. Some authors contend that each distributary of the Ganges in its deltaic part is a remnant of an old principal channel, and that starting from the western-most one, the Bhagirathi in West Bengal, Indiaeach distributary to the east marks a position of a newer channel than the one to the west of it.
Eighteenth-century geographer James Rennell referred to a former course of the Ganges north of its present channel, as follows:. Appearances favour very strongly that the Ganges had its former bed in the tract now occupied by the lakes and morasses between Natore and Jaffiergunge, striking out of the present course by Bauleah to a junction of Burrrampooter or Megna near Fringybazar, where accumulation of two such mighty streams probably scooped out the present amazing bed of the Megna.
The places mentioned by Rennell proceeding from west to east are Rampur Boalithe headquarters of Rajshahi districtPuthia and Natore in the same district and Jaffarganj in the district of Dhaka.
It is now known as Payla Jaffarganj and is close to Elachipur opposite Goalunda. According to Rennell's theory, therefore, the probable former course of the Ganges would correspond with that of the present channel of the Baral River.
Authorities agree that the Ganges has changed its course and that at different times, each of the distributaries might have been the carrier of its main stream. The bed of the Padma is wide, and the river is split up into several channels flowing between constantly shifting sand banks and islands.
During the rains the current is very strong and even steamers may find difficulty in making headway against it. It is navigable at all seasons of the year by steamers and country boats of all sizes and until recently ranked as one of the most frequented waterways in the world. It is spanned near Paksey by the great Hardinge Bridge over which runs one of the main lines of the Bangladesh Railway.
Rajshahia major city in western Bangladesh, is situated on the north bank of the Padma. The Hooghly River, which continues southwards in India is also known as the Ganga traditionally and Bhagirathi. Here, the widest river in Bangladesh, the Meghna joins the Padma, continuing as the Meghna almost in a straight line to the south, ending in the Bay of Bengal. The Jalangi River is thrown off at the point where the mighty Padma touches the district at its most northernly corner, and flows along the northern border in a direction slightly southeast, until it leaves the district several kilometres to the east of Kushtia.
It carries immense volumes of water and is very wide at places, constantly shifting its main channel, eroding vast areas on one bank, throwing chars on the other, giving rise to many disputes as to the possession of the chars and islands which are thrown up.
Murshidabad District situated on the western bank of The Padma. It flows dividing the Rajshahi and Murshidabad District of West Bengal and created a natural river border between India and Bangladesh. Rajshahi is the largest city among the cities which is situated on the bank of Padma river. It is the third largest city in Bangladesh.
It is a major city in the north Bengal. Rajshahi has a decorated embankment of Padma. Rajshahi Collegiate School is one of the oldest schools in Indian Subcontinent, situated on Padma river bank. The school was endangered three times by the disintegration of the Padma river. After this game I'm retiring. I promised myself this would be my last tournament. Win or lose, I'm quitting blitzball. But you know, since we're here, we might as well win! Wakka is the first person Tidus meets after washing up on Besaidand befriends Tidus after being impressed by his blitzball skills.
He is the captain of the Besaid Aurochsa team that has never won a game. He grew up with Yuna along with Luluand views her as a younger sister.
His late brother Chappu was a Crusader who lost his life while wielding a machina weapon. For this, Wakka harbors a resentment for machina, and bigotry towards the Al Bhed who use them, and uses his staunch following of the teachings of Yevon which forbid machina to further rationalize his hatred. His world-view broadens during Yuna's pilgrimageand despite his bigotry, Wakka is a loyal friend, and helps Tidus come to grips with Spira.
Wakka is a ranged attacker, and uses his blitzballs and armbands in battle. His Sphere Grid path grants him high Accuracyseveral Skill abilities that inflict negative status effectsand a few Blk Magic spells. His OverdriveSlotsdeals various damaging effects with his blitzball depending on slot input, and Attack Reels in particular allows him to potentially deal some of the highest amount of damage possible in one turn in the game.
Wakka is one of three characters along with Tidus and Rikku who can fight underwater, and can be used in blitzball matches as a team member. Portrait by Tetsuya Nomura. Wakka is tall and muscled, with tan skin, brown eyes, and long reddish-orange hair styled into a coif and girted with blue headscarf. He wears the uniform of his blitzball team, the Besaid Aurochs, with alterations presumably as he is the captain : a yellow vest top cut away at the stomach, a yellow shoulder pad on his left shoulder, blue and yellow baggy trousers gathered above the ankle, brown wristbands with a blue and yellow armguard over the left arm, and open sandals.
He wears a dolphin necklace and has a silver stud earring on his left ear. His face has been rounded and his skin, lips, beard, and eyes have been touched-up. During Final Fantasy X-2Wakka has grown more lax in his lifestyle, and is said to have gained weight. Despite being called "tubby" by Rikku, the developers had not created a new character model for him, meaning this is not apparent. The game's final FMV sequence also doesn't show him as having gained weight, although it does show his hair has begun to gray, something not present in his character model.
Wakka is of what would be considered Austronesian descent in our world and is characterized by a Besaid Island accent. He uses speech-mannerisms like "brudda" for "brother" and finishes sentences with "ya? He begrudges the Al Bhed for what happened to his brother, Chappu, but rationalizes his hatred for Al Bhed not following the teachings of Yevon. This grudge extends to borderline racism.
Wakka's goal as captain to a blitzball team is to have the team do their best without it mattering whether they win or lose. It is not until Tidus arrives the Aurochs begin to focus on achieving victory. He becomes fond of Tidus, as he reminds him of his late brother Chappu. Though Lulu reminds him they're not the same person, Wakka still gives Tidus Brotherhood Chappu's sword. Wakka depends on Yevon's religion and guidance making him socially conservative and thus is intentionally kept in the dark about Yuna's half-Al Bhed heritage.
Because of his high value in his religion, Wakka is reluctant to participate in anything considered forbidden by its teachings.According to the Grhya SutrasNamakarana ceremony is typically performed on the tenth or the twelfth day after birth.
Some texts suggest the naming ceremony be done on the first new moon or full moon day after the 10th day of birth. On the day of this samskara, the infant is bathed and dressed in new garments. The naming ritual solemnizes the child as an individual, marking the process by which a child is accepted and socialized by people around them. The rite of passage also includes a gathering of friends and relatives of the baby's parents, typically with gifts and for a feast.
The ancient Sanskrit texts provide numerous and divergent guidelines to the parents for choosing names.

Padma is a powerful, charismatic businesswoman leading a network marketing organization of several hundred thousand. Eighty percent of her team operates on the Indian continent, while the remaining 20 percent is spread over the Pacific Rim, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
When Padma was introduced to network marketing fifteen years ago, she was a young mother with two children and a dysfunctional marriage, struggling to make ends meet. Today her business has provided her with more wealth than she had ever dreamed of. No longer motivated by money or recognition, Padma devotes her time to telling the story of how network marketing changed her life and teaching others, especially women, how to use the business as a vehicle for attaining freedom and a balanced state of mind.
Getting Started. Padma got married at the tender age of 16, and by the time she turned 17, she had her first son. Despite being a stay-at-home mom she somehow managed to continue her education and eventually graduated with a college degree in commerce. Due to the immense pressure on myself and my husband, love and affection vanished and I got divorced at the age of I now had to earn a living as a single mother, so I started a textile business and later opened a beauty salon.
Padma had to borrow money from private financiers to clear her debt and cover the start-up costs for her business. Interest rates in India were very high at the time. She struggled for nearly ten years, working hard just to pay the interest on her loans. During those years, she was introduced to several small network marketing companies that offered cosmetic lines. Ina family friend approached her about a company that was operating out of Malaysia.
How could a business that required so little investment yield any significant return? Thanks to the support of her upline Mr. Firose Khan, Padma eventually jumped in with both feet, and when she began seeing a return, she started telling her friends. They even tried to persuade me to quit my network marketing business because they believed it would turn into another failed experiment that would cause me to lose more money.
I decided to focus on strangers instead, and once others started believing in me, my family came back and showed interest. Padma shared the business mainly with customers and vendors who visited her beauty salon and boutique, as well as people she ran into. But once I began earning commission checks, everyone started believing in me.
As soon as Padma understood that the business was about educating and empowering others, she knew it was the right path for her. It took her a while to come on board full-time, because she was still involved in her traditional business, but when she began to see the bigger picture of what was possible, she became percent committed to her new venture.
Instead, she simply duplicated what her upline had done for her, working with new sign-ups to build up their belief level until they saw some returns. When Padma got started, her upline leader put pressure on her by calling her every day, asking whom she had talked to. He then would show the plan to her prospects and ask her to follow up.
As soon as Padma signed up some business partners herself, she did the same thing: she daily checked in with them and made presentations for them, all the while encouraging them to bring in new people and follow up. During the ten years Padma has been with her company, she has personally signed up only about thirty people, but by helping them succeed, she was able to build an organization of over three hundred thousand.Padma Patil b.
She was the identical twin sister of Parvati Patil. Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw house and became a prefect in her fifth year. She was also a member of Dumbledore's Armyan organisation taught and led by Harry Potter. She later bravely fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in Padma survived the final battle of the Second Wizarding War and graduated from school.
Parvati and Padma were both born somewhere between and They were probably raised in a wizarding household. InPadma began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Ravenclaw house and Parvati was sorted into Gryffindorseparating the two. It is likely that Padma and Parvati both knew Pansy Parkinson before starting their education due to the way Pansy addresses them.
As part of the tournament, a traditional Yule Ball is held by the hosting school, Padma attended the Yule Ball with Ron Weasleyat the urging of Parvati Harry's date when Harry begged her to find a date for Ron. Padma, however, was less than enthusiastic at having Ron as a partner, since he refused to dance with her and instead spent the evening stewing in jealousy over Hermione 's date with Viktor Krum.
Padma wore turquoise dress robes for the occasion. Due to both Harry and Ron showing a lack of interest in the twins, Padma and Parvati both abandoned their dates and danced with some boys from Beauxbatons. Padma became more interested in Ron Weasley after he became one of the hostages for the second task and spoke with him in the halls several times, intrigued with what had occurred. They sat next to a boy from Durmstrang.
InPadma became a prefect for Ravenclaw along with Anthony Goldstein. Padma's fifth year would have the school undergo the watchful eye of the Ministry through Dolores Umbridgewho would be appointed High Inquisitor as well as Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts. Umbridge refused to teach any of her students practical magic which led to an uproar against her. Padma and Parvati standing next to Harry Potter at a D. Padma attended the Hog's Head for the founding meeting of Dumbledore's Army with her sister, and signed the parchment saying she wouldn't reveal any secrets that the group hold.
During one meeting, Padma was accidentally Stunned by Neville Longbottomwho had been aiming for Dean Thomas instead. InPadma and Parvati's parents initially didn't want their daughters to return to Hogwarts, though they were convinced to allow it. That year Hogwarts would be under attack from Death Eatersand Dumbledore's Army was called into arms. However, neither Padma nor Parvati had their coins that signalled this call on them and did not participate in the battle.
But as a result Mr and Mrs Patil insisted on bringing their daughters home the day after, due to the battle resulting in Albus Dumbledore 's death at the end of the school year. Padma was unable to attend Dumbledore's funeral, having been taken home before breakfast. In Hogwarts was under the control of Lord Voldemort and his followers, students were brutally punished and taught different subjects, like how to use dark magic instead of defending against it.
Sensing the need for rebellion yet again, like there had been when Hogwarts was under the control of Dolores Umbridge, Padma and her sister Parvati both joined the reconstituted Dumbledore's Armystanding up against Death Eater control of Hogwarts.
Unlike before when trouble brewed Padma's parents had not attempted to withdraw her and her sister from school as it had now become compulsory attendance for pure-blood and half-blood students, which the Patil sisters are likely to be. Although there was a historical Padmasambhava, little is known of him apart from helping the construction of the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet at Samyeat the behest of Trisong Detsen and shortly thereafter leaving Tibet due to court intrigues.
A number of legends have grown around Padmasambhava's life and deeds, and he is widely venerated as a "second Buddha" by adherents of Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, the Himalayan states of India, and elsewhere. The Nyingma school considers Padmasambhava to be a founder of their tradition. One of the earliest sources for Padmasambhava as a historical figure is the Testament of Ba dating to the 9th or 10th centurieswhich records the founding of Samye Monastery under the reign of king Trisong Detsen r.
According to tradition, Padmasambhava was incarnated as an eight-year-old child appearing in a lotus blossom floating in Lake Dhanakosha, in the kingdom of Oddiyana. In Rewalsarknown as Tso Pema in Tibetan, he secretly taught tantric teachings to princess Mandaravathe local king's daughter.
The king found out and tried to burn him, but it is believed that when the smoke cleared he just sat there, still alive and in meditation.
Greatly astonished by this miracle, the king offered Padmasambhava both his kingdom and Mandarava. Padmasambhava left with Mandarava, and took to Maratika Cave in Nepal to practice secret tantric consort rituals.
She and Padmasambhava's other main consort, Yeshe Tsogyalwho reputedly hid his numerous terma s in Tibet for later discovery, reached Buddhahood. Many thangkas and paintings show Padmasambhava in between them, with Mandarava on his right and Yeshe Tsogyal on his left. According to Sam van Schaikfrom the 12th century on a greater role was assigned to Padmasambhava in the introduction of tantric Buddhism into Tibet:.
According to earlier histories, Padmasambhava had given some tantric teachings to Tibetans before being forced to leave due to the suspicions of the Tibetan court. But from the twelfth century an alternative story, itself a terma discovery, gave Padmasambhava a much greater role in the introduction of Buddhism to Tibet, and in particular credited him with travelling all over the country to convert the local spirits to Buddhism.
According to tradition, Padmasambhava received the Emperor's wife, identified with the dakini Yeshe Tsogyalas a consort. The translations from this period formed the base for the large scriptural transmission of Dharma teachings into Tibet.
Padmasambhava supervised mainly the translation of Tantra ; Shantarakshita concentrated on the Sutra -teachings. Padmasambhava introduced the people of Tibet to the practice of Tantric Buddhism. He is regarded as the founder of the Nyingma tradition.
The Nyingma tradition is the oldest of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The group particularly believes in hidden terma treasures. Traditionally, Nyingmapa practice was advanced orally among a loose network of lay practitioners. Monasteries with celibate monks and nuns, along with the practice of reincarnated spiritual leaders are later adaptations, though Padmasambhava is regarded as the founder of Samye Gompa, the first monastery in the country.
Bhutan has many important pilgrimage places associated with Padmasambhava. The most famous is Paro Taktsang or "Tiger's Nest" monastery which is built on a sheer cliff wall about m above the floor of Paro valley.
It was built around the Taktsang Senge Samdup stag tshang seng ge bsam grub cave where he is said to have meditated in the 8th Century. He flew there from Tibet on the back of Yeshe Tsogyalwhom he transformed into a flying tigress for the purpose of the trip. According to legend, Padmasambhava's body imprint can be found in the wall of a cave at nearby Kurje Lhakhang temple. It is a danda with three severed heads denoting the three kayas the three bodies of a Buddha, the dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, and nirmanakayacrowned by a trishulaand dressed with a sash of the Himalayan Rainbow or Five Pure Lights of the Mahabhuta.
The iconography is utilized in various Tantric cycles by practitioners as symbols to hidden meanings in transmitted practices. There are further iconographies and meanings in more advanced and secret stages. Padmasambhava is said to have taken eight forms or manifestations Tib. Guru Tsen Gye representing different aspects of his being, such as wrath or pacification for example.
According to Rigpa Shedra the eight principal forms were assumed by Guru Rinpoche at different points in his life. Padmasambhava's various Sanskrit names are preserved in mantras such as those found in the Yang gsang rig 'dzin youngs rdzogs kyi blama guru mtshan brgyad bye brag du sgrub pa ye shes bdud rtsi'i sbrang char zhe bya ba.
